Origin Unknown

Here is my final video and the three still images.

Simple Model

In an attempt to solve the problems below I have simplified my model. Although I would have liked to have seen my idea completed, the size and number of pieces I was trying to animate were just too large for this to work well. However I am happy with the simple nature of my new model and feel that this allows the eye to absorb the details and size better than before.

Slow times

I have got to the point with my level where I would like to be able to view my animations and model during game play. This would help for testing interaction and such. However, once the animation is added and I try to test the level the FPS drops considerably. It gets all the way down to 0.7FPS. This makes it impossible to view, interact with and experience the model. This is limiting my progress as I am unable to see what makes the model good and what needs improving. Also it makes it impossible to capture a video that is worth watching. This is proven with the video video I made below.

Current look

This is how my model currently looks. It my or may not change but here is an update anyway.

Design Ideas and Intentions

I chose the model that this design is based on because the straight edges, angular structure and thick-set body made it feel strong, bold and ancient. I wanted to keep this feel but use it on a grander scale. When creating my new model I have managed to retain this feel. The new model looks as though it were built by either aliens or ancient civilizations in an uninhabited and barren landscape. I like how the whole design is based the same simple component, only it has been duplicated scaled and rotated to give the model a complex appearance.
